Before the rewrite,
read the brief.

The actual opportunity and the experience you can evidence give the document a useful starting point.

Person making notes at a desk, editorial context

Keep the opportunity in view.

Read the role information and application instructions. Identify the experience you can honestly connect to the work being described.

Make the information easy to follow.

Review the order, headings and clarity of the document. Check dates, titles and contact information, and ask someone appropriate to review the wording.

Keep the claims accurate.

Use examples you can explain. Do not invent achievements or assume a document format guarantees an interview.
